Kensington Secondary School is an Independent Public School and the only stand-alone education support secondary school in the State. We cater for a wide range of students with varying levels of disability and education needs from the ages of 12 to 18 years. A number of our students transfer from Carson Street School on completion of their primary school education.
The school is located on George Street in Kensington next to St Johns Ambulance, Kensington Fire Station and the Kensington Police Station. Our local intake area includes the City of South Perth, Town of Victoria Park and from the swan river through to Carmel in the surrounding hills
Students graduate in the year they turn 18 and successfully continue on to employment, training or alternatives to employment.
We ensure our students are provided personalised, individual focus at all times. Our school employs 50 staff members for our 50 students guaranteeing the very best interaction ratio.
We work hard to create a place of joy as well as learning. Our staff are passionate about delivering a totally enjoyable, nurturing experience for all students across all schooling plus sport, craft, domestic, community and social levels.
We link up with Good Samaritan Industries, Activ Industries, Goodwill Engineering, Workpower and the Spine & Limb Association as well as ‘on the job’ organisations including Beehive Industries, Guide Dogs WA, Coles Supermarkets and Bike Rescue.
The idea that each and every child has something of great value that they can share and give back to their community is core to everything that inspires me as a school leader. So our school is not a hierarchy of principal-teacher-student; it’s a partnership dedicated to building young lives that are happy, safe and fulfilled.
Our goal is to have every student be a valued citizen contributing to the diversity and prosperity of our broader community. I believe special needs educators must be shining examples of inclusion so we can change the traditional perceptions that linger in society. I proudly share this vision with my amazing staff who work tirelessly to seek new ways of teaching and learning, curriculum, employment and our engagement with the local community.
Keep up to date with the latest news and events from Kensington Secondary School. From sports days to farming and more, our students participate in a range of exciting activities.
